AstroSpider Atlas™

Atlas™ is AstroSpider's architecture-first framework for building governed intelligence systems on top of modern data platforms. It's designed for organizations that need answers they can trust — backed by controlled sources, clear lineage, and security-aware access.

Atlas Labs — AstroSpider's applied-AI division — designs and builds on it, delivering the Spider Bot family of governed assistants.

What is the AstroSpider Atlas framework?

Atlas is AstroSpider's architecture-first framework for building governed intelligence applications. It defines how enterprise data is structured, retrieved, and governed before any AI is layered on top - so the resulting assistants are grounded, auditable, and production-ready, not demos that never ship.

Beyond the Chatbot Layer

Most “AI” implementations stop at a chatbot layer. Atlas™ is different: it starts with the same foundations we use for enterprise data delivery — target architecture, canonical models, and production-grade pipelines — then adds a controlled intelligence layer on top. Architecture First. Delivery Always.

Atlas™ supports use cases like: searching internal documentation and policies, accelerating analytics delivery, preserving architectural intent, enabling domain-aware Q&A, and reducing operational risk during migrations and modernization. It is introduced selectively based on governance readiness and platform maturity.

Three Tiers. One Framework.

Most organizations don't fail at AI because of the model. They fail because of how they start. Atlas Labs builds a three-tier ladder of governed assistants — the Spider Bot family — so you start at the right level and grow only when the platform is ready.

Curated Knowledge
Spider Bot
  • Entry tier. Fast to launch, low cost, highly controlled.
  • Hand-authored knowledge with intelligent routing and citations.
  • No vector database or ingestion pipeline required.
Best when your knowledge is focused and stable.
Hybrid Retrieval
Super Spider Bot
  • Middle tier. A curated core plus a targeted RAG layer.
  • Exact answers from prepared, checked facts where they matter.
  • Much of the reach of the top tier at a fraction of the infrastructure.
Best when a stable core needs some broader reach.
Full Router
Ultra Spider Bot
  • Top tier. Picks the right path for each question: prepared facts, hybrid retrieval, whole-document reading, or a live connection to your systems.
  • Structure-aware ingestion, enterprise guardrails, lineage, and role-based access.
  • Every change proven against an evaluation suite. Scoped per engagement.
Best when questions range from exact figures to open research across large or changing content.

Tier Entry — curated knowledge Middle — hybrid retrieval Top — full router
Knowledge approach Hand-authored knowledge with intelligent routing and citations A curated core plus a targeted RAG layer, and prepared facts for exact answers Every path behind one router: prepared facts, hybrid retrieval with re-ranking, whole-document reading, live connections
Infrastructure No vector database or ingestion pipeline required Much of the reach of the top tier at a fraction of the infrastructure Structure-aware ingestion, enterprise guardrails, lineage, role-based access, and an evaluation suite that gates every change

Spider Bot — this assistant — is a live example of the entry tier. Super Spider Bot and Ultra Spider Bot are what you grow into as your knowledge scales. A higher tier isn't automatically better; all three are built on the Atlas™ framework. Architecture First. Delivery Always.

Governed Knowledge
Connect trusted sources (docs, data models, SOPs, runbooks) with controlled retrieval and auditable outputs.
Architecture-First AI
Canonical models, semantic grounding, and platform-native patterns — built for correctness, not demos.
Enterprise Guardrails
Designed with access control, lineage, and operational observability in mind — aligned to how enterprises run.
Built to Evolve
Atlas™ is designed to grow alongside the data platform as sources, policies, and business logic change over time.

Frequently asked questions

What does governed AI mean?

Governed AI means an AI system with guardrails built in: it answers only from approved, curated sources, cites where each answer came from, respects access and privacy controls, and declines when it doesn't know rather than guessing. It's the difference between a production-grade assistant and a generic, unguided chatbot.
